"We need to be more ruthless at both ends and we have to learn from that"

Stuart Taylor said Town should have won at Exeter and have to learn from the disappointment of defeat.

Former Blue, Lee Martin, gave the Grecians a place in the last eight of the Trophy with a goal in the last minute after Will Keane had levelled for Town early in the second-half following Nicky Ajose’s opener.

“It’s a sore one. We didn’t deserve that but that’s football and we have to take it,” Town’s assistant manager told iFollow Ipswich.

“We dominated the game from start to finish and we had good chances. We had more shots at goal, we dictated the game but we need to be more ruthless at both ends and we have to learn from that.

“We had a strong enough team out there to win the game and we should have won the game so it’s very disappointing.”

Teddy Bishop and Freddie Sears both started for the first time this season and that provided a positive for Town.

"There were lots of positives to take from the game and those two getting minutes on the pitch was definitely a big positive,” added Stuart.

“It was great to have them back and they are influential players in the way that we want to play and they can both be big players for us over the rest of the season.”
