Fans to have their say as Town set to spotlight 12 Ipswich icons

Twelve fans favourites are to be portrayed in the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand concourse as the Club look to continue to give the stadium a makeover.

A ‘Legends of Ipswich Town’ mural is now in place in the Sir Bobby Robson Stand, which has gone down well with the Blue Army and a programme of other works is being discussed and taken forward.

The stairwells in both the Sir Bobby Robson Stand and the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand will carry Club graphics for next season, while the history of Ipswich Town will be depicted in the windows in the Cobbold Stand.

More murals are under discussion around the stadium but the next project to be put into motion is the concourse in the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand.

There are 12 main pillars that run down the concourse and the Club are looking to turn each pillar into a tribute to an Ipswich Town icon. That’s where the Blue Army come in.

The Club will be contacting thousands of Town fans at random to get their feedback on the players that they would like to see featured on the pillars.

Town are looking for 12 Blues to light up the concourse - icons, heroes, legends of the Club but across the years, rather than just one era. They don’t have to be the best 12 players - just 12 fans’ favourites.

The Club will survey the feedback from the supporters contacted and come up with a dynamic dozen to brighten up the concourse, hopefully before the end of the season.

More details will follow on the Club website in due course.
