League Football Education salute for young Blue Henderson

Town’s Alex Henderson has been recognised for his progress on and off the pitch at Portman Road by the League Football Education.

The Academy defender, who made his first-team debut for Blues in the Trophy win at Peterborough in December, has been named in the ‘11’ by the LFE.

The ‘11’ acknowledges the football and academic progress of U18 players on apprenticeships at EFL clubs - and is also designed to assess other factors, including involvement in community or charity-based initiatives.

“The ‘11’ is directly associated with apprentice reviews that are conducted by our regional officers throughout the season,” said LFE chief executive Sarah Stephen.

“It is a great way to highlight the achievements and progression of talented young footballers, who apply themselves to all aspects of their apprenticeship.”

The ‘11’ for 2019/20 are: Connor Shanks (Bradford City); Carl Johnston (Fleetwood Town); Alex Henderson (Ipswich Town); Stuart McKinstry (Leeds United); Wynford Marfo (Leyton Orient); Ziyad Al-Oyouni (Lincoln City); Ollie Leach (Milton Keynes Dons); Ryan Smith (Northampton Town); Alex Aoraha (Queens Park Rangers); Alex Bonnington (Sheffield Wednesday) and Yasin Arai (Stevenage).
