Loan deal over for defender as football remains on hold

Town have ended Josh Earl’s loan stay from Preston.

The 21-year-old defender, who made seven appearances for Blues, arrived at the Club in January in a deal that was to see him finish the League One fixture list at Portman Road.

Town were due to conclude the league campaign against MK Dons on May 3 until the Covid-19 pandemic brought the game to a standstill on March 13.

“We all agreed that it was the sensible thing to do given the circumstances,” Town’s general manager football operations, Lee O’Neill, told the Club website.

“We could have extended Josh’s loan but there is so much uncertainty going on at the moment around when games might be played again that it wasn’t really a viable option.

“We’d like to thank Josh for his contribution to the team and to the Club in his time with us and wish him all the best for the future.”
