Tommy Hughes on target as young Blues take deserved point
Town U23s drew 1-1 with Coventry City at Playford Road this afternoon.
Tommy Hughes netted for the young Blues, who deserved nothing less than a share of the spoils.
Kieron Dyer fielded a young XI, with Chris Casement the most experienced member for the hosts.
The hosts started brightly but found themselves a goal behind in the 20th minute. Coventry broke on the Town defence and took the lead as Wesley Jobello finished into an empty net after Marcel Hilssner's initial stike had come back out off the post.
It remained that way until half-time, Blues creating a few half chances but Coventry standing firm.
Town came out the blocks quicker for the second half and finally got their reward with almost half an hour remaining.
Substitute Hughes latched on to a ball down the right and went to swing a ball into the box but, fortunately for Blues, managed to swing the ball over the head of Coventry 'keeper Tom Billson and into the far corner of the net.
Both sides searched for a winner but the scores remained level and the spoils were shared.
The young Blues are next in action when they face Bristol City away from home on 24 November [kick-off 1pm].
