"The main thing is that I’m back fit and I’m back playing"

Kayden Jackson says that he is keen to get more minutes under his belt when Town host Portsmouth in the FA Cup tomorrow after making his first start of the season in midweek.

The Blues striker has made just three appearances so far this term, with injury and a two-week lay-off after catching Covid-19 preventing his progress on the pitch.

Fresh from managing just over 75 minutes at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland, the 26-year-old says he is feeling good.

"Tuesday night was my first competitive start in almost nine months so it was massive for me personally to get out there," he told iFollow Ipswich.

"It was even better that I felt good. I felt sharp which perhaps was a little bit of a surprise after such a long lay-off. I’m like most players - the more games you play, the better you feel. I’m hoping to be involved come Saturday and possibly on Tuesday and we’ll see from there.

"The main thing is that I’m back fit and I’m back playing. You need to know if you’re up to it fitness wise. To get back into things and feel sharp like I did can only give you confidence."
