"I think age is just a number when you're out there"
Mark McGuinness says he will always be a player that takes responsibility out on the football pitch.
The Town defender, who is on loan at Blues from Arsenal for the season, is only 19 years old but aspires to be a leader to his teammates.
In a feature interview for Saturday's matchday programme, the centre-back discusses the penalty incident against Shrewsbury last Saturday, a disappointing night for Blues against Hull on Tuesday, and his first taste of action with Republic of Ireland U21s during the last international break.
"I think age is just a number when you're out there," Mark told the matchday programme.
"I always take responsibility for my actions and I take responsibility for any goal that goes in our net - it's just how I am.
"Obviously I gave the penalty away against Shrewsbury and that wasn't good enough. You have to take responsibility as this all part of the process of learning as a young player.
"Thankfully we turned that game around but it was a disappointing night against Hull.
"We can't be too downbeat because Saturday is another test and we have to be right up for it. We can't afford to get off to a slow start so we must put Tuesday night behind us."
