Town boss on defeat at Crawley
Paul Lambert said he was so proud with how his young side performed tonight, despite losing 2-0 away at Crawley Town in the Papa John's Trophy.
A brace from Brian Galach was enough for the home side to secure the victory. Defeat means Blues' stay in the competition is over after Gillingham secured a point against Arsenal U21s.
Levi Andoh, Dylan Crowe, Zak Brown and Jack Manly were handed their professional debuts, with the latter becoming Town's second youngest player for the Club aged 16 years 22 days.
"I'm really proud of them," Paul told iFollow Ipswich.
"They were excellent. We worked with them yesterday and the way they came in and played like that is great for the future of the Club.
"It was great to watch. The technical ability and understanding of the game was really good. The physicallity of the game I knew about and I don't have a problem with.
"The result isn't the main thing. If we can get guys through to the first-team in a few years time, then brilliant.
"They gave me everything and I'm really proud."
