"It’s a great opportunity for them to go and get some experience of playing in the first-team"

Assistant manager Stuart Taylor says that Tuesday evening's Papa John's Trophy tie at Crawley will present another good opportunity for the young players coming through the ranks at the Club.

Blues have once again used this competition to blood Academy talent into the first-team, with Elkan Baggott, Ross Crane, Zanda Siziba and Allan Viral all making their debuts in the 2-0 victory over Gillingham last month.

Town, who currently sit second in Southern Group B, go into the game knowing that a win would secure progression to the knockout stages.

"It’s a good competition for the younger ones to go and play in," Stuart told iFollow Ipswich. "It’s a great opportunity for them to go and get some experience of playing in the first-team.

"There were a few lads [from the game] against Portsmouth who will need games as well. We’ll have to see how they’ve come through as it was a tough game and hard-fought. It’s a case of seeing how they recover.

"They’re [Crawley] going very well in League Two. They’ve scored plenty of goals in the last few games. They’re an attacking side who like to get forward. We’ve got a certain way that we want to go and play so it’ll be a good game I’m sure."

The game, which kicks off at 7pm, will be available to watch on iFollow Ipswich for £10 - CLICK HERE to purchase a match pass.
