"I've been waiting for my chance and hopefully I did okay on Tuesday so I can be involved going forward"
Luke Woolfenden is hungry to keep his first-team place after making his first start in the League this season on Tuesday.
The Town defender stepped in at centre-half against Gillingham alongside Mark McGuinness, and played his part as Blues kept a fourth home clean sheet of the season with a 1-0 win.
"I've been waiting for that moment since the start of the season really, so it felt very good," the 22-year-old told iFollow Ipswich.
"We defended well and it was nice to keep the clean sheet and continue the good home run.
"It's good playing next to Mark as well. He's so strong in the air and I think we have a similar style of play - we like to get on the ball and work it forward.
"I've been waiting for my chance and hopefully I did okay on Tuesday so I can be involved going forward.
"It can be frustrating when you're not in the team but the gaffer has said that if you're doing well you'll keep the shirt - that's how it should be in football."
