Boss on impressive win for young Blues side
Paul Lambert took pride in his side's performance as Town overcame Gillingham 2-0 in the EFL Trophy this evening.
Armando Dobra produced a stunning strike to open the scoring 12 minutes after half-time, before Ben Folami wrapped up the three points with a close-range finish under the Portman Road lights.
Four players were handed their Blues debuts - Elkan Baggott who started and played the full 90 minutes in central defence, as well as Ross Crane, Zanda Siziba and Allan Viral who all came on as second-half substitutes.
"I'm really proud of the lads and we played some good football," Paul told iFollow Ipswich.
"The young guys deserve a lot of credit because I thought they played the way football should be played.
"There was good movement and speed going forward, and we looked stong at the back.
"Elkan did brilliantly. He looked good on the ball and played well next to Woolfy [Luke Woolfenden].
"I can't single out one player though because it was just a good team performance."
