"The back four have been great...but really it's the whole team that has defended well"

Paul Lambert believes Town's defensive form is a cornerstone for his side's positive start to the League season.

Town have kept two clean sheets in their first two League One fixtures - 2-0 wins at home to Wigan and away to Bristol Rovers respectively.

"The back four have been great," he told iFollow Ipswich.

"You have to include Tomas [Holy] in that as well as he has played both League games and done well.

"But really it's the whole team that has defended well. Good defending gives you a cornerstone to get a good result.

"We can add Mark McGuinness to that as well. He has a big future in the game.

"We'll need to be at it tomorrow against Rochdale. At the same time, Rochdale will know they'll need to play well if they want to beat us. I'm happy with how we're approaching games at the moment so I hope that continues this weekend."
