"We played some incredible football"
Paul Lambert said he was delighted with Town’s performance today as they booked their place into the second round of the Carabao Cup with an impressive 3-0 victory over Bristol Rovers.
Town went into the break two goals to the good, after Freddie Sears opened the scoring and Luke Chambers headed in just before half-time.
Freddie Sears added his second and Town’s third in the second-half to round off a positive start to the campaign.
“I thought we were excellent from start to finish,” Paul told iFollow Ipswich. “We played some incredible football.
“The goals were brilliant, the movement was superb. I’m really, really pleased.
“We could’ve scored more. Their goalkeeper made some good saves and we were a bit sloppy with our finishing. Other than that, I couldn’t ask for anymore.”
Luke Chambers appeared to have picked up an injury, being replaced late on in the game by debutant Corrie Ndaba and the Town boss isn’t sure how bad the injury is yet.
“Luke came off and it was his hamstring. It could’ve been a cramp hamstring, we’re not sure yet.”
