"It’s a game where we can go in with no pressure and no fear. We’ll give it our all"
Stephen Ward says that tonight's Carabao Cup meeting with Fulham will provide a great experience for the young players in Town's squad.
Having faced Tottenham and West Ham in pre-season, Blues will take on the Premier League Cottagers at Portman Road with the winner hosting either Rochdale or Sheffield Wednesday in round three.
The Irishman, who has over 170 Premier League appearances alongside 50 international caps, says that it's a good opportunity for Town to test themselves against a top flight opponent.
"Any time you get a Premier League team it’s going to be a tough game," Stephen told the Club website. "If you do get them, you want to get them at home.
"It’s a game where we can go in with no pressure and no fear. We’ll give it our all. It’s a great game to test ourselves and see exactly where we’re at.
"The experience is great. That’s where players strive to get to and we’re striving to get to as a club. Our first step is to get back into the Championship.
"Those young players will want to test themselves against the best and prove they can do it against Premier League opposition. It’s just a pity that we won’t be playing them in front of a crowd at Portman Road."
