WARD | BUSINESS STARTS TOMORROW

4 September 2020

"We want to get off to a winning start and progress into the next round"

Stephen Ward says it’s important for Town to try and progress in the Carabao Cup tomorrow and breed a winning mentality amongst the squad.

Town begin their season tomorrow in the Carabao Cup with the visit of Bristol Rovers to Portman Road, followed by an EFL Trophy clash with Arsenal U21s on Tuesday.

“It’s strange to be playing cup games before the league begins,” Stephen told iFollow Ipswich. “We want to get off to a winning start and progress into the next round.

“There’s no harm in having a decent cup run and we want to breed a winning mentality and that starts tomorrow.

“If we can get a positive result that takes us into a massive opening fixture next weekend against Wigan.

“The lads are itching to get going. Pre-season has been good but tomorrow is where the business starts.”
