'Not ideal' contract trigger situation leaves Alan on sidelines
Alan Judge won’t be appearing for Town over the rest of the season.
The Republic of Ireland international is one of a number of senior players who is out of contract in the summer but having clocked up 29 starts for Blues this term, one more would have automatically triggered another 12 month extension for him at Portman Road.
“It’s not ideal for us or Alan because I would have liked to have had him available for us over the rest of the season,” Town boss Paul Cook told the Club website.
“I told him we are not in a position to trigger that extension to his contract and because of the situation, we won't be considering him for the remaining games.”
The former Brentford midfielder joined Town as a free agent in January 2019 and has made 91 appearances, scoring eight goals.
