Fourteen through the door this summer
Hayden Coulson has joined Town on a season-long loan.
The full-back, who made 17 appearances for Middlesbrough in the Championship last season, is the Club’s 14th summer signing, and second in a day following the arrival of Kyle Edwards earlier this afternoon.
Hayden, a product of the Boro youth system, mainly operates in the left-back position but can also play further forward on that flank.
Having turned professional at the Riverside, the now 23-year-old joined St Mirren on loan in July 2018, and went on to make a total of 11 appearances for the Buddies.
Hayden then spent the second half of the 2018/19 season on loan at Cambridge United, and turned out for The U’s 14 times before the end of the campaign.
His Boro debut came on the opening day of the 2019/20 season - a 3-3 draw away to Luton Town.
On the international front he has represented England at U16, U17 and U18 level.
“It’s a pleasure to be here and I’m really looking forward to this experience,” the Gateshead-born defender told iFollow Ipswich.
“It’s been pending for a couple of weeks and I’m really happy it’s over the line. I spoke to the gaffer and the conversation went really well.
“I feel like this is the perfect move for me because I want to gain a bit more experience and also help the Club achieve what it wants to achieve.
“I watched the Morecambe game the other day and the fans were amazing. I’m looking forward to stepping out on the Portman Road pitch for the first time.”
Town boss Paul Cook added: “It’s been well documented that we’ve been tracking Hayden.
“Him and Matt Penney were our two main targets for that position, so we’re delighted to have him with us.
“He’s a really good lad and has valuable Championship experience. He’s a strong addition to the group and he wants to be here.”
