INTERVIEW | LEE ON BURTON DEFEAT

14 August 2021

Midfielder on difficult afternoon at Pirelli Stadium

Lee Evans spoke to iFollow Ipswich following a 2-1 loss to Burton Albion.

Town were left to rue a missed penalty at Pirelli Stadium as a late spot kick from Lucas Akins saw the hosts take the spoils.

A first-half strike from Joe Powell put the Brewers ahead, with a Thomas O'Connor own goal sending the sides into half-time level.

Scott Fraser's penalty was saved just before the hour mark, before Akins converted from 12 yards with four minutes left to play.

"We're bitterly disappointed," Lee said.

"At worst we should have drawn and got on the bus with a point. We should never have lost.

"It is a tough place to play but we have to cut out mistakes. We dealt with their set pieces fairly well and had opportunities, so it is frustrating.

"We have to learn and keep working hard. There are promising signs but we have work to do."
