"It felt like everyone in the stadium paused and it was just made for me to go and score"
Macauley Bonne said he had thought about scoring at Portman Road ever since he left Town as a youngster.
The striker, who is on loan at the Blues for the 2021/22 season from QPR, was at the Club at youth level before being released at the age of eight.
He came on this afternoon to score the crucial equaliser as Paul Cook's side opened the 2021/22 League One campaign with a 2-2 draw against Morecambe.
"Since leaving the Club as a kid I have dreamed about coming back here and scoring a goal. It means the world to me," Macauley told iFollow Ipswich.
"The moment didn't feel real. It felt like everyone in the stadium paused and it was just made for me to go and score. Thankfully I stayed calm and slotted it home.
"It was good work from Nors [James Norwood] to flick the header on then I managed to roll the geezer and the ball hit the back of the net.
"We definitely deserved something from the game so I'm pleased I helped us get the point."
