Sweet 16 for the Blues this summer
Town have completed the signing of Tom Carroll on a one-year deal.
The experienced midfielder is the Club’s 16th summer signing, and second in 24 hours after Cameron Burgess put pen to paper at Portman Road on Sunday afternoon.
Tom, now 29, progressed through the youth ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and made his Spurs debut in August 2011 against Hearts in a Europa League play-off match.
During his time at White Hart Lane, where he chalked up more than 60 appearances, the playmaker had loan spells with Leyton Orient, Derby, QPR and Swansea, before penning a permanent deal at Liberty Stadium, now known as the Swansea.com Stadium.
In his first game for The Swans after the transfer, he helped the club to a first ever away league win over Liverpool.
Having made a total of 74 league appearances for Swansea, Tom left the club in January 2020 and signed a one-year deal with former loan club QPR.
He featured a total of 22 times for QPR in the Championship last season, and is now relishing a new opportunity at Portman Road.
“It’s great to finally get it all done. I spoke to the manager a few days back and he was keen to get me in. It’s nice to feel wanted,” Tom, who was born in Watford, told the Club website.
“I want to play some football and get this club back where it belongs.
“I’m travelling up to Cheltenham on the bus with the boys. Hopefully I can be involved tomorrow and see how it goes.”
“Tom is a very creative and intelligent player,” Town boss Paul Cook added.
“He can see a pass and we’re delighted to have acquired him.
“We’ve had great support from the owners and Mark Ashton and now we want to integrate these new lads into the group and win games in front of our supporters.”
An interview with the Blues’ newest recruit will be available on iFollow Ipswich this afternoon.
