Honest assessment from the Blues' goalkeeper
Christian Walton says that are no excuses and that Town weren't good enough as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by League Two Barrow.
First-half goals from Jordan Stevens and Robbie Gotts did the damage in Cumbria as the Blues fell to a 2-0 defeat in this evening's second round replay.
Town's goalkeeper gave an honest assessment of tonight's performance and thanked the 202 supporters who made the long trip North, as well as the many more who will have watched the game live on ITV 4.
"You can make as many excuses as you want but we’ve got to be better, turn up and fight in these sorts of games. We didn’t do that tonight," he told iFollow Ipswich.
"Individually, we need to take responsibility and put things right. That wasn’t good enough.
"They made it difficult, worked harder than us and, ultimately, were the better team on the night.
"We’ve shown that we’ve got the character within the team but we need to show that on a more consistent basis.
"I can’t thank them [the supporters] enough. They’ve been brilliant and they get behind us. To travel to Barrow tonight is unbelievable and obviously there will be fans watching on TV as well. I’m so grateful for the support."
