"We finished the stronger team and the impact from the subs was great"

Interim manager John McGreal felt Town deserved at least a point from DW Stadium this afternoon.

Following Callum Lang's opener for Wigan in the first half, a James Norwood strike saw it end all square in Greater Manchester.

"We still need to improve, there's no question about that, but we reacted well to Tuesday," John told iFollow Ipswich.

"It was a very tight game, particularly in the first half and we gave a sloppy goal away.

"But the boys came out in the second half and did well. We finished the stronger team and the impact from the subs was great.

"I think we showed good patience today and there was a structure to the group. Our fans needed to see our boys have a right go and I think they got that.

"We never had a shot on target against Charlton and that's criminal. Today we went with two boys up top as we felt we could get at their back four - it proved the case.

"There is a lot to work on, but we deserved something today and whoever comes in as manager will see that the boys are in a good place."
