"Everyone speaks very highly of him, so I’m delighted that we’ve managed to capture Kieran and bring him here to Ipswich"

Mark Ashton is 'as confident as he can be' that Kieran McKenna will be the manager to bring success to Town.

Kieran, who was previously a first-team coach at Manchester United before completing a Suffolk switch, was made the Club’s 19th manager last week.

Town’s CEO opened up on a number of topics regarding Kieran’s arrival following that appointment.

Asked if he believes that the new Blues boss can deliver success, Mark answered: "I’m as confident as I can be.

"He certainly matches the values of myself and the Football Club; high integrity, high work ethic, high energy and an extremely high level of intelligence.

"From the references we’ve had from people within the game, everyone speaks very highly of him so I’m delighted that we’ve managed to capture him and bring him here to Ipswich.

"I think we’ve got someone to help take this football club substantially forward.

"We put together a list of people that we wanted to see and talk to. It became apparent very quickly that Kieran sat right at the top of that list of people. When I met him, my hopes were realised."

Town made 19 signings in the summer transfer window in a period of drastic change at the Club.

While a similar overhaul will not follow in the January transfer window, Mark says that Kieran will receive the backing that he requires.

"From my perspective, I certainly hope that we aren’t as busy as the summer," he continued.

"Kieran will be backed and he will be supported. We’re already starting to talk about the shape of the squad now and moving forward.

"I fully anticipate we will be active in the January transfer window."
