Hyperextended knee sidelines full-back

Kane Vincent-Young has suffered a setback on his return from injury, and will likely be sidelined for a further six weeks.

The 24-year-old had recently returned to full training with Town, after sustaining an achilles problem in pre-season.

The full-back was set to play in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Brentford B on Wednesday (which was called off in the end due to a waterlogged pitch), but jarred his knee in training and, as a result, his recovery has been put on hold.

Kane had been making good progress after rejoining the group for full training towards the end of 2020.

"I'm really gutted for Kane," Town's first-team coach, Matt Gill, told iFollow Ipswich.

"He suffered a bit of a setback in training and will be out at least a few weeks.

"It's a knee issue and these things can happen when you are coming back from a long time out."

Kane, who made a flying start to life with Blues after joining from Colchester United in August 2019, was sidelined for the majority of last season following surgery on first a groin problem and then an adductor tendon injury.
