Town manager's thoughts ahead of Tuesday night clash

Paul Lambert said he doesn't expect tomorrow's game with Peterborough to be 'one for the purists'.

Blues face Posh at 7pm Tuesday evening, with heavy snowfall expected in the region all the way up until kick-off, and temperatures set to be just below freezing.

Conditions at the Weston Homes Stadium are already difficult, with clubs up and down the country having a tough ask of maintaining a healthy pitch in this extreme weather.

A burst water main at the stadium just before Christmas has also left the Posh groundstaff with battle to avoid a heavy build-up of water just beneath the playing surface.

"We're expecting a really hard game," Paul told iFollow Ipswich.

"I don't think it's going to be one for the purists as Peterborough's pitch is pretty cut up. We'll see what it's like but it sounds like they've had a few things that have made it difficult.

"I'm not sure what the weather will be like as well, so that will obviously add to it.

"If we want to be in the mix we need to go there and try to win, though. We had a good game against them a few weeks ago and went down to a moment of misfortune, so let's see what happens."

Town's trip to face Posh will be available to watch live on iFollow Ipswich with a £10 match pass. For more information click here.
