Darren Drysdale says sorry after 'confronting' Judgey
Referee Darren Drysdale has issued an apology to Town and Alan Judge after appearing to square up to the midfielder during last night’s goalless draw with Northampton.
Players from both sides moved in to guide the official away after he had ‘confronted’ the Republic of Ireland international following an appeal for a penalty for Blues.
"I fully understand that it is important for us as referees to maintain our composure throughout the game and always engage with players in a professional manner,” said the referee in a statement issued through the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited)
“I’m sorry that I did not do that last night and I can only apologise to Alan and Ipswich Town.”
The incident is being investigated by the Football Association.
