Downes one of three to return to training, with five more set to start next week
Flynn Downes has stepped up his recovery from a knee injury after returning to first-team training with Town.
The Blues midfielder, who has been sidelined since the MK Dons match at the beginning of October, trained with the group every day this week apart from missing one session.
It was always part of his rehabilitation programme that he would miss said session.
"I would say Flynn is a little bit ahead of the others who are working their way back," Town's assistant manager, Stuart Taylor, told iFollow Ipswich.
"He's been with us every day apart from one but that was always part of the plan."
Freddie Sears and James Norwood, who picked up hamstring injuries against Hull and Charlton respectively in November, have also returned to first-team training.
Meanwhile Gwion Edwards, Keanan Bennetts, Jon Nolan, Teddy Bishop and Kane Vincent-Young are back out doing work on the grass.
The group has been working closely with the Club's sports therapist, Tom Walsh, and, all being well, all five players will return to first-team training on Monday.
