Tricky midfielder becomes Town's second January signing
Town have completed the signing of Josh Harrop on loan from Preston North End for the remainder of the 2020/21 season, subject to EFL approval.
The 25-year-old completed his paperwork at Portman Road today having trained with his Blues teammates this morning, and is the Club's second signing of the January transfer window following the arrival of Luke Thomas on loan from Barnsley yesterday.
Josh, a product of the Manchester United academy, often operates in the number 10 role, but can also play on either flank or as a second striker.
Born in Stockport, Josh made his United debut in the final game of the 2016/17 Premier League season. He marked his first appearance with a stunning solo strike in a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. His appearance against the Eagles would be his only one in a Red Devils shirt, as he signed for Preston in the summer of 2017.
Josh penned a four-year deal with North End and made his debut for the Lilywhites in a goalless draw away to Leeds United in August 2017. He scored his first goal for the club in a 3-0 win at home to Cardiff City in September that same year, and also bagged a brace in a 5-1 FA Cup win against Wycombe Wanderers in January 2018.
In September 2018 he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury that saw him miss the remainder of that campaign. He returned from injury in August of the following year and featured regularly for Preston in the 2019/20 season.
The midfielder has made eight appearances for Preston this term, the last of which came on Boxing Day as Alex Neil's side secured a 1-0 win away to Derby County.
Josh will wear the number 33 shirt for Blues and could be available for selection when Town host Peterborough at Portman Road on Saturday.
