"Hopefully I can bring something to the table and help us win the game"
Luke Thomas says that Tuesday night's home game against Sunderland is the kind of fixture that he strives on.
The Barnsley loanee made his Town debut against Peterborough at the weekend from the substitutes bench, featuring on the right of the front three.
Speaking ahead of the televised midweek match at Portman Road, Luke hopes to get more minutes and stake a claim for his place in the side when Sunderland travel to Suffolk.
He said: "It’s a massive game and I can’t wait to play in games like this.
"That’s what I came here for and that’s what I strive on. Hopefully I can bring something to the table and help us win the game. I think as a footballer, everyone wants to play in these sort of matches. I like to have pressure.
"I hope to get in the starting line-up and after that I’ll be doing my best to make sure I stay in the team. My fitness level is good and I’m ready and willing to go.
"It was very good to get on the pitch at the weekend and get a few minutes," he continued. "I got quite involved and felt as if I did alright on the ball but I can definitely offer a lot more than what I showed in the short time I had.
"Hopefully, it will be a case of getting more minutes in the future to show what I can do. I know it’s a hectic schedule but I’m fine with that. As far as I’m concerned there’s nothing better than playing games and I’m really looking forward to it."
