Goals galore in Essex with new boys on the scoresheet for Town
Joe Pigott, Macauley Bonne and Wes Burns were on target for Town in an entertaining pre-season friendly against Colchester United.
Tommy Smith, Frank Nouble and Alan Judge netted for the hosts at JobServe Community Stadium.
Corrie Ndaba, Cameron Humphreys and Macauley Bonne all started for Town in Essex, with a total of 19 players involved on the night as Paul Cook offered minutes to a large chunk of the squad.
Town's newest recruits, George Edmundson and Conor Chaplin, watched from the stands after penning deals at Portman Road earlier today.
The visitors opened the scoring in the seventh minute. It was lovely work from Armando Dobra who fed Bonne, with the QPR loanee then cutting the ball back for Pigott to sweep home from the middle of the box.
With 27 minutes gone, Smith sent a bullet header into the back of the net to equalise for the hosts.
But on the half-hour mark the Blues regained the advantage as Bonne glanced a delightful header into the bottom corner.
Shortly before half-time, Judge whipped in a dangerous free-kick which Nouble met with his head and flicked over Tomas Holy into the far corner as the sides went in level.
After the restart, Dobra almost produced a stunning solo goal after jinking in between multiple defenders, but his low strike from a narrowing angle was saved.
Twenty minutes from time Judge caught Holy out of his net and bent the ball in from almost 40 yards out to put the hosts in front for the first time on the night.
But with just three minutes left second-half substitute Burns fired in a free-kick from 25 yards.
Town are next in action when they host Millwall at Portman Road in the final pre-season outing on Saturday.
