Boss delighted with fans' return and pre-season opener
Paul Cook said he "really enjoyed" today's pre-season friendly against Dartford.
A second-half strike from Tawanda Chirewa saw Town to a 1-0 victory at Princes Park.
Just over 1,600 fans were in attendance, including an impressive backing from the travelling Blue Army.
"The atmosphere was great today and I really enjoyed it," the Town boss said.
"We gave the first-team lads 45 minutes and then were very young in the second half and it was great to see them come on and win the game.
"I was quite pleased with us to a point, but it's always difficult in the first game back and we will get stronger as the pre-season games go on.
"Football is about fans travelling, maybe having a few beers and watching your team play. It was fantastic to have them back and also really good to see the young lads [who played the second half] go and acknowledge them for their support this afternoon."
Paul Cook also confirmed that Kane Vincent-Young and Jon Nolan missed today's game as they continue to recover from injuries: "Kane was a precautionary decision and Jon is almost ready to return from a calf injury, so they'll be back soon."
