“We’ve got close to twenty supporters who are actively engaging and want to have an influence going forwards"
Town’s official LGBTQ+ supporter group, Rainbow Tractors, have given an update on the progress they’ve made since re-launching in March 2021.
The Club has actively shown its support for Pride month which is taking place now, and the Club website caught up with Francine Flisher from Rainbow Tractors, who explained how things are taking shape.
“Rainbow Tractors is going really well,” Francine told the Club website.
“We’ve got close to twenty supporters who are actively engaging and want to have an influence going forwards.
“We’re in the process of creating a membership form so it’s a bit more official and then we can see what members would like to get out of the group.”
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, like everything, Rainbow Tractors have had to hold their meetings virtually over zoom, and they’re looking forward to having more of a presence at Portman Road on matchday.
“As everything has been virtual, we can’t wait to meet up in person on matchday, hopefully in the FanZone,” Francine added.
“For members who are not local, we will continue to hold virtual meet ups as it’s a great way to interact.
“We’re in contact with the Football Supporters Association about some merchandise such as pin badges and tops for our members.”
Suffolk Pride’s annual event on the waterfront at Ipswich is taking place on July 23, 24 and 25. There will be a Rainbow Tractors presence on all three days.
Other exciting planned events include a LGBTQ+ talk panel which Rainbow Tractors will be hosting and a football tournament which is scheduled to be at Portman Road on the practice pitch.
Ipswich Town is, and always will be a football club for everyone, and we’re proud to be supporting Pride month 2021.
Rainbow Tractors’ group is ever-growing with lots of supporters taking an interest. You do not have to be LGBTQ+ to join the group, all supporters are extremely welcome. If interested, please email email@example.com.
