Former Blue, Gary Roberts, to join as first-team coach under new boss
Former Town midfielder Gary Roberts will be returning to Portman Road as part of Paul Cook’s coaching team.
The 36-year-old made 59 appearances for Blues after joining the Club from Accrington, initially on loan in October 2006.
He spent two years with the Club before joining Huddersfield and later went on to play under Paul’s management at Chesterfield, Portsmouth and Wigan, winning promotion at all three of those clubs.
Gary joined Accrington on a short term deal in January but will now take up a position as first-team coach at Town, alongside Matt Gill. Jimmy Walker remains as goalkeeping coach.
“I’ve worked with Gary before and we are both looking forward to meeting up with all the other staff at Ipswich and working together to give us the best possible chance of winning promotion this season,” new boss Paul told the Club website.
Both Paul and Gary will be in the stands for Town's match at Accrington tonight. Live coverage of the game on iFollow.
