EARLY TEAM NEWS FOR POMPEY TRIP

19 March 2021

Full-back returns for south coast clash, striker also available

Paul Cook revealed that Kane Vincent-Young will be in the matchday squad for Town's fixture with Portsmouth tomorrow afternoon.

The full-back, who last played a competitive game for the Club in October 2019, was sidelined with an Achilles injury before suffering setbacks with calf and knee problems on his road to recovery.

"Kane will be part of the squad tomorrow," Paul said.

"Everyone knows what he's been through with the injury. He's had a really rigorous training programme recently, though, and he's worked so hard behind the scenes.

"He's been with us for a couple of sessions so why not. I think he'll be on the bench tomorrow.

"If everything goes to plan and he gets on well tomorrow then he can have a full week training with us and moving forward it can help us gain on the pitch, that's for sure."

"In the modern day game full-backs are very important. I want full-backs that get forward and give you energy and get crosses in."

The Town boss also gave an update on James Norwood, who has missed the last two games, and Oli Hawkins, who is working his way back from a knee operation.

"Nors is available," he added.

"Having him fit and available is a massive boost no matter what, because he's certainly someone that can lead the line well.

"Oli trained with us for the first time yesterday so will hopefully get a full week under his belt next week and then he could be available for selection after that."
