"For the Club it was the right decision to part ways."

Town's general manager of football operations, Lee O'Neill, said it was mutually agreed between Paul Lambert and Marcus Evans that it was the right time for a managerial change at Portman Road.

The Club announced last night that Lambert and assistant manager Stuart Taylor had left Blues.

"It had come to a point where both parties felt it was the right time for the Club to make a change," Lee told iFollow Ipswich.

"Paul has had frustrations with a few things and there had been conversations about the Club moving forward.

"For the Club it was the right decision to part ways.

"We hadn't been getting the results we needed to stay in and around the promotion mix, and things have been tough. But, the last couple of weeks can hopefully give us some momentum for the rest of the season.

"Paul and Stuart worked very hard while here and for that we thank them. We have a game to prepare for tomorrow evening and our full focus is on that fixture."
