PAUL ON LATICS DRAW

27 March 2021

"We need go-to players that will step up to the plate but right now everyone seems to be looking at someone else and waiting for them to do something"

Paul Cook gave an honest assessment of today's goalless draw with Wigan.

Town were left frustrated following the stalemate at DW Stadium, with Blues falling to 11th in the League One table.

"The game really did lack quality," Paul said.

"The truth is we need to be so much better than that. We have to get a win quickly to give ourselves the belief that we can make the play-offs.

"We should be controlling games and opening teams up but it's something we're not doing. We have a little bit of a way to go - that's the truth.

"Yes we huff and puff and defensively we look okay but we were still quite nervy at the end of the game. We really need to work hard on the training pitch.

"We need go-to players that will step up to the plate but right now everyone seems to be looking at someone else and waiting for them to do something.

"It didn't look like we had the quality to open them up and score a goal and that's heartbreaking."
