"They’ve got an outstanding young manager. We’re in for a really tough game Saturday but we’re very much looking forward to it"

Paul Cook was full of praise for Argyle manager Ryan Lowe and expects Saturday's opponents to be challenging for promotion as soon as next season following on from a successful first year back in the third tier.

The Pilgrims, under the leadership of Lowe, sit 15th in League One ahead of their visit to Portman Road after winning automatic promotion last term.

Having earned plaudits for their expansive style of play, Plymouth have already taken the scalps of Charlton and Portsmouth away from home this campaign too.

Town's opponents have, however, lost their last three outings, with Paul expecting them to benefit from this tough run in the future.

The Town boss was full of praise for Lowe, who already has two promotions on his managerial CV, and expects a difficult encounter against Argyle on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking about Plymouth's current form, he said: "Plymouth will be better for it. In 12 months’ time I think Plymouth will be knocking on the doors of the play-offs to go up.

"They’ve got an outstanding young manager, Ryan Lowe’s done great in football. Ryan’s at a strong, stable football club which has loads of potential and development to go forward, probably exactly how I see the club I’m at.

"He’s had success at Bury, he’s come down to Plymouth, had instant success and now Ryan, with [assistant manager] Steven Schumacher’s help and a couple of staff that he’s taken with him, are building the club at Plymouth and it’s great to see.

"This year they’ve had some outstanding results, like everyone else they’ve had their dips and that’s part of Ryan’s development and learning as a manager. We’re in for a really tough game Saturday but we’re very much looking forward to it."
