Mark Detmer said The Three Lions spent years looking for the right opportunity to invest in English football.
He, alongside fellow Americans Berke Bakay and Brett Johnson, make up the Three Lions fund which are part of Town's new owners, Gamechanger 20 Ltd.
They also form part of the ownership group of USL Championship side Phoenix Rising FC, with Mark drawing on the similarities between the Arizona-based club and Town.
"This is a club with a really passionate fanbase and we think it's an opportunity to wake a sleeping giant," Mark told iFollow Ipswich.
"When you look at football, and especially English football, it's a really hard business to be in. You are constantly graded not just on the pitch but off it in terms of fan engagement. the stadium, matchday experience and more.
"It means you have to work tirelessly to try and achieve results on and off the pitch, and our goal is to achieve phenomenal results on and off it.
"We've spent years looking for the right opportunity in England and we feel this is it. There are similarities here to Phoenix Rising and those components made this the opportunity we wanted to go for.
"Our aim is to get the fanbase as passionate about the Club as those from before."
