"That is definitely the best one I’ve scored in my career"
Idris El Mizouni said scoring the winning goal for Town just seven days on from signing a new contract at the Club meant a lot to him.
The midfielder, who extended his stay until the summer of 2024, netted a stunning half-volley from 30 yards to seal a 2-1 FA Cup first round replay victory at Oldham.
Conor Chaplin was also on the scoresheet for the Blues, who came from behind against a spirited Latics outfit following Harrison McGahey's headed opener.
"It was a very hard game against a team who pressed us well," Idris told iFollow Ipswich.
"Everyone is happy because we wanted to get through. We know what the FA Cup means in England to the fans so it was good to come here and win the game.
"It’s been a good week for me. I signed a new contract and to get the goal, especially with it being the winning goal, means a lot for me. I’m very happy.
"I had a free-kick [when on loan] at Cambridge but that is definitely the best one I’ve scored in my career.
"It was on the edge of the box, I had a touch and didn’t have anyone pressing me so I thought I’d have a shot. Obviously, I got it right so I was happy with it!"
