Comfortable second half for Town at Aldershot
Town U18s will face Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the FA Youth Cup after overcoming Aldershot this evening.
The young Blues prevailed 4-1 at EBB Stadium, and will travel to Spurs in the next round.
Adem Atay's side got off to a flying start and took the lead inside two minutes. A cross from Cameron Humphreys was met by Tyrese Osbourne, and after the striker's effort was blocked, Jack Manly was in the right place at the right time to tap in.
The hosts responded, though, and levelled shortly before half-time. An initial effort was saved by Town 'keeper Lewis Ridd, but Harvey Limb converted the rebound.
On the hour mark Town restored their advantage as Ash Boatswain bundled in, before second-half substitute Finn Barbrook gave the young Blues breathing space with a smart finish from a narrowing angle 21 minutes from time.
Humphreys won a penalty with four minutes left to play; Tawanda Chirewa stepping up and sending the 'keeper the wrong way to put the icing on the cake.
Details regarding Town's third round tie with Spurs will be released in due course.
