"It was flat, inept - whatever adjective you want to use"
Paul Cook gave an honest assessment of his side's performance following a 1-1 draw with Oldham Athletic in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Town got off to a flying start when Wes Burns opened the scoring after eight minutes, but Hallam Hope levelled for the visitors right on the stroke of half-time.
Christian Walton saved a second-half penalty from Dylan Bahamboula, with the Blues then getting into plenty of promising areas without being able to find a second goal.
"It's up there with one of our worst performances of the year," Paul told iFollow Ipswich.
"We started okay and scored a good goal, but then never got going.
"The FA Cup is a magical competition, and our fans were excited by the team we put out, but, as I've said before, our consistency this season is our incosistency.
"It was flat, inept - whatever adjective you want to use. We relied on Christian with an excellent penalty save to keep us in the tie.
"We've now got to go to Oldham, and credit to them by the way, and try to put things right."
