Blues will learn of second round opponents in Saturday's draw
Town have progressed to the knockout stages of the Papa John’s Trophy as Southern Group A winners after West Ham U21 were docked three points for fielding an ineligible player.
Paul Cook's finished the group stage on five points following Tuesday’s penalty shootout success against Colchester and were originally set to progress as runners-up behind the young Hammers.
The news means that Town will be awarded a home tie in Saturday's second round draw, which takes place live on Sky Sports following the televised midday League Two fixture between Port Vale and Bradford City.
Colchester also qualify from the group having accumulated four points from their three games.
Second round ties will be played in the week commencing 29 November.
