Supporter taken on a lap of Portman Road pitch, and invited back to a game this season

Paul Cook met Town fan, Derek, at Portman Road this afternoon.

Unfortunately, Derek is terminally ill and a resident at Oaks Care Home in Colchester.

He has supported the Club for more than 50 years, and attended both the FA Cup final at Wembley in 1978, and both legs of the UEFA Cup final in 1981.

Because of his illness, Derek has been unable to attend fixtures at Portman Road recently.

But today, he was greeted by Paul and taken on a lap of the pitch, before having a photo taken with the Blues boss.

The pair shared fond memories of the game while on their walk, with a video of the visit available below.

Following his trip to the stadium, Paul invited Derek as a guest of his to a home fixture of his choice this season.
