BOSS ON CAMBRIDGE DRAW

16 October 2021

"Scoring goals is not an issue, but keeping them out is a big blemish on our record"

Paul Cook said today's 2-2 draw away to Cambridge summed up Town's story of the season.

A first-half brace from Sone Aluko had the Blues in full control, but the U's salvaged a point thanks to James Brophy's strike late in the first period, before Joe Ironside headed in just two minutes from time.

"For 43 minutes we were fantastic," Paul told iFollow Ipswich.

"We created chances and were in control. Everything that was poor at Accrington was good today.

"Whether we like it or not, though, the goal before half-time gave them a leg up.

"Just before that, the stadium was flat. But it's the story of our season - that they come back.

"Scoring goals is not an issue, but keeping them out is a big blemish on our record.

"It's so disappointing because we take our fans on a journey. We take them close to giving them something to drink, and then we turn the tap off."
