Young Blues progress to round two
Town U18s began their 2021/22 FA Youth Cup campaign with a commanding victory over Winslow United.
Ashley Boatswain, Tawanda Chirewa and Jack Manly all bagged braces with Tyrese Osbourne also on target for the young Blues at Portman Road.
Adem Atay's side took the lead after 18 minutes, Boatswain netting his first of the night following a pinpoint cross from Osbourne.
Curtis Brown equalised for Winslow three minutes later before Town came up with an instant response of their own, retaking the lead through Osbourne.
Osbourne turned provider again four minutes later as Manly opened up a two-goal advantage with Chirewa making it 4-1 before half-time following Finn Barbrook's lay-off.
Boatswain got the second half off to the perfect start just two minutes after the break, completing his brace in the process.
Having been denied by an impressive save moments later, Chirewa converted his second of the evening with just over an hour played.
Town 'keeper Lewis Ridd came up with two impressive saves to prevent Brown from scoring again twice inside four minutes as the visitors continued battling.
Manly completed the scoring late on with his second of the night as Town progressed to the second round.
