"There will be a lot of fans. Everyone wants to play in front of a good crowd"
Conor Chaplin says that today's Sheffield Wednesday clash provides an opportunity to build on the victory at Lincoln last weekend.
The Blues host the Owls this afternoon in front of an expected 20,000-plus crowd at Portman Road.
Conor is looking forward to the occasion as well as a 'good test' against another of the sides with aspirations of achieving promotion from League One this term.
"Now that we’ve got the win behind us, it’s something to build on," he told the Club website.
"Confidence wise, it’s massive for the boys to get our first win of the season. Fingers crossed, we can look to build and improve on that against Sheffield Wednesday.
"They’re another club who has great players for this division. They’re a massive football club. First and foremost, the occasion is going to be good. There will be a lot of fans, which is something that everyone wants to play in front of and be a part of. They’re a great team so it’ll be a good test for us."
Paul Cook has hinted that there are likely to be enforced changes to the side, with Matt Penney expected to start in place of Hayden Coulson after the latter picked up an injury at Lincoln.
Conor is confident that the strength in depth that Town have assembled over the summer will stand the Club in good stead for the season.
"There are players who are out of the squad that would probably start at any other League One team. That’s testament to the job that has been done here over the summer in terms of recruitment and the backing that the gaffer has been given.
"That’s something that can only stand us in good stead. Injuries happen, Covid is still about and there are suspensions and things like that. Having people who can come into the team seamlessly and not make it any weaker is massive."
