"We need to show that we are backing the gaffer and I think we’ve done that"
Janoi Donacien paid tribute to manager Paul Cook after Town picked up their first win of the 2021/22 season at Lincoln.
Macauley Bonne’s first-half header proved to be the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory, Town also securing their first clean sheet of the campaign with some resolute defending.
Paul’s father sadly passed away last week, with the Town squad wearing black armbands as a mark of respect in last weekend’s Bolton fixture.
Asked if the team wanted to win at Lincoln for the manager, Janoi said: "We did. We spoke about it in our group chat, that the gaffer needs us.
"The gaffer needed us to back him. We need to show that we are backing the gaffer and I think we’ve done that. I’m so pleased for him.
"Today, we got it over the line with some resilient defending. Our positioning was terrific and, as a team, we defended so, so well."
