Young Blues go top
Goals from Armando Dobra and Matt Ward saw Town U23s secure a 2-0 victory over Peterborough this afternoon.
Posh's Weston Homes Stadium played host for the clash, with the three points for the young Blues sending them top of the Professional Development League Two South division.
Town started the brighter of the two sides and had the first half-chance of the game, but Dobra volleyed straight at the Peterborough 'keeper.
Midway through the first half Blues shot-stopper Lewis Ridd made a routine save to deny Kai Corbett following some neat footwork on the edge of the area.
Shortly after, a cross from Luke Harris almost found the back of the net, but the ball clipped the crossbar, much to Ridd's relief.
Goalless at half-time, Town opened the scoring 10 minutes into the second half. Following a nice move, Dobra converted from close range.
Chances were few and far between in the remaining 35 minutes, but the young Blues made sure of the three points in the dying stages. Ward found himself with space in a wide area and delivered a cross which nestled into the far corner.
Town now sit top of the PDL2 South division with 48 points from 23 games, and are next in action when they take on Sheffield United at Portman Road on Tuesday [kick-off 1pm].
