"We smother opposition teams and make it difficult for them to create"
Janoi Donacien says the whole team is proud of the Blues' defensive solidity and strong run of form.
Town are on the second longest unbeaten run of all teams in the top four divisions of English football, and have also conceded the joint-third fewest goals [six alongside Manchester City] in the top four divisions this calendar year.
Janoi, who has been lining up on the right side of a back three, has played every minute for Kieran McKenna's side in 2022 - a run of 16 games in which Town have shut out the opposition on 11 occasions.
"We work so hard both on and off the ball," the 28-year-old said.
"We smother opposition teams and make it difficult for them to create, right from the start of games. The forwards press at the front, with the midfield and us squeezing from behind as well. We definitely take pride in the defensive record.
"As a defence we make it so hard for them and as a team we are super proud of the record. We talk about it in our team meetings and we can’t remember the last number nine to score against us. And as long as we keep it like that, where the strikers aren’t scoring against us, we’ve got a great chance.
"It's not by chance either, there will be meetings during the week and we will go through everything. There is a great level of detail.
"We work hard and it's really enjoyable to be a part of. We're all looking forward to Saturday and it will be another big occasion at Portman Road in front of a strong crowd. The fans have been terrific and we'll be doing all we can to get the three points."
