BOSS ON CAMBRIDGE DEFEAT

2 April 2022

"We will recover from this and we will go to Shrewsbury and do everything we can to give a good account of ourselves"

Kieran McKenna said today's peformance in the 1-0 defeat to Cambridge was Town's 'worst in a while'.

An own goal from Dom Thompson saw The U's leave Portman Road with three points on a frustrating afternoon for the Blues.

"We came up short today," Kieran told iFollow Ipswich.

"It was our worst performance in a while, especially in the first half.

"We didn't compete well enough, and our play in possession wasn't good enough. In the final third we didn't have enough threat.

"That's two games where we have dropped points as we have conceded from set-pieces, so that's disappointing. It's tough for us and the supporters, but we will continue to work and we will work on the areas that we need to get better at.

"I have real confidence in the direction that we are going in general. We will recover from this and we will go to Shrewsbury and do everything we can to give a good account of ourselves and finish the season on a strong note."
